Dimitri Tiomkin
Dimitri Tiomkin was a Russian-born Hollywood film score composer and conductor. As a young man Tiomkin worked as a concert pianist in Europe and America, performing with the Berlin Philharmonic, on the vaudeville circuits of both continents, and in a solo recital in the Carnegie Hall. From 1930, Tiomkin started working as a film composer in Hollywood, and between 1948 and 1958 he was nearly completing six film scores each year. Tiomkin has won four Academy Awards for his music in the films "High Noon", "The High and the Mighty", and "The Old Man and the Sea".
