Johnny Hodges American saxophonist John Keith "Johnny" Hodges was well known for his solo work in Duke Ellington's band and is credited as one of the defining saxophone players of the Big Band Era. He was admired by musicians from a variety of eras and styles, such as Ben Webster and John Coltrane. He is responsible for writing and co-writing many songs of the Big Band Era such as his "Broad-Walk", "Once Upon A Time" and the jazz standard "I'm Beginning To See The Light" with Duke Ellington, Don George and Harry James.
