Laurel Aitken "Godfather of Ska" Laurel Aitken was a Cuban/Jamaican singer who has been named as one of the originators of ska. He began recording in 1957, releasing the single "Roll Jordan Roll." His record "Little Sheila" / "Boogie in my Bones" was the first single released by Island Records, one of the first ska records ever recorded and the first Jamaican single released in England. The Two Tone ska revival in the late 70s brought more success for Aitken, who had a UK chart hit with "Rudy Got Married" in 1981. He continued to tour with numerous third wave ska bands into the 80s, 90s and 2000s.
