Dusty Springfield Mary Isabel Catherine Bernadette O'Brien, OBE, known as Dusty Springfield, was a British pop and soul singer. With hits such as "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me" and "I Close My Eyes and Count to Ten", she had an incredible impact on British and American musical culture over a career spanning three decades. Owing to her distinctive sensual voice, she was one of the most notable white soul artists. Springfield was voted the Top British Female Artist in the New Musical Express reader's polls in 1964, 1965 and 1968. She has earned places in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the U.K. Music Hall of Fame.
