Hal Kemp
American jazz musician, bandleader, composer and arranger Hal Kemp started his career off forming a jazz orchestra whilst at university in the early 1920s. They were soon recording for Pathe Records and touring Europe. His band was known for it's unique sound, such as filling passages with brass staccato triplets. His big records were the 1936 No.1 hits "There's a Small Hotel" and "When I'm With You", as well as "This Year's Kisses" and "Where or When", which went to No.1 a year later. He was one of the first artists to record "For All We Know" in 1934, reaching No.3. He was inducted into the Big Band and Jazz Hall of Fame in 1992.
