Doc Pomus Doc Pomus was an American blues singer and songwriter. He is best known as the lyricist of many rock and roll hits. He collaborated with pianist Mort Shuman writing the classics "A Teenager in Love", "Save The Last Dance For Me" and "Sweets For My Sweet". Later, alongside Phil Spector, he wrote "Young Boy Blues" and hits such as "Young Blood" with Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. Pomus was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992
