Lyrics
Baby, do you understand me now
Sometimes I feel a little mad
Well don't you know that no-one alive
Can always be an angel
When things go wrong I seem to be bad

I'm just a soul who's intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood

Baby, sometimes I'm so carefree
With a joy that's hard to hide
And sometimes it seems that
All I have to do is worry
And then you're bound to see my other side

I'm just a soul who's intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood

If I seem edgy, I want you to know
That I never mean to take it out on you
Life has it's problems and I get my share
And that's one thing I never mean to do

'cause I love you
Oh, oh, oh, baby, don't you know I'm human
Have thoughts like any other one
Sometimes I find myself alone and regretting
Some foolish thing, some little simple thing I've done

I'm just a soul who's intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood

Yes, I'm just a soul who's intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood

Yes, I'm just a soul who's intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood

Yes, I'm just a soul who's intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood

Lyrics
Well, you've been gone,
For fourteen long days
Yes, you've been gone
For fourteen long, lonely days
And I'm prayin' to the Lord
Please don't take my love away...

Come back home,
All I want is you
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, Come back home, baby
You know all I want is you
You know you'll never find another boy
To treat you like I used to treat you

Oh baby,
Baby, why don't you come back home to me
Hey, baby baby,
Why don't you come back home to me

I want you to come back home baby
Baby, please set me free...

Lyrics
Let me tell you 'bout a girl I know
She is my baby and she lives next door
Every mornin' 'fore the sun comes up
She brings me coffee in my favorite cup
That's why I know, yes, I know
Hallelujah, I just love her so

When I'm in trouble and I have no friend
I know she'll go with me until the end
Everybody asks me how I know
I smile at them and say, "She told me so"
That's why I know, oh, I know
Hallelujah, I just love her so

Now, if I call her on the telephone
And tell her that I'm all alone
By the time I count from one to four
I hear her [KNOCK-KNOCK-KNOCK-KNOCK] on my door

In the evening when the sun goes down
When there is nobody else around
She kisses me and she holds me tight
And tells me, "Daddy, everything's all right"
That's why I know, yes, I know
Hallelujah, I just love her so

Now, if I call her on the telephone
And tell her that I'm all alone
By the time I count from one to four
I hear her [KNOCK-KNOCK-KNOCK-KNOCK] on my door

In the evening when the sun goes down
When there is nobody else around
She kisses me and she holds me tight
And tells me, "Daddy, everything's all right"
That's why I know, yes, I know
Hallelujah, I just love her so
Oh, hallelujah
Don't you know, I just love her so
She's my little woman, waitin' all this time
Babe, I'm a little fool for you, little girl...

One of these days and it won't be long
Youre gonna search for me and down the road I'm gone
'Cause I believe
Oh yes, I believe
I believe to my soul
You're tryin' to mess around with me babe

You keep complainin, my progression is slow
You shouldn't complain baby
You aught to know
'Cause I believe
Oh yes sir I believe
I believe to my soul
You're tryin to make a fool of me

Once you told me you loved me I found out it was a lie
You should be ashamed baby hang your head and cry
'Cause I believe
Oh yes, I believe
I believe to my soul
You're tryin' to make a fool of me
I believe it

Lyrics
Why am I lonely, why do I cry,
Am I gonna be a lonely one till the day that I die?
Yes, you don't be there while I sit here alone,
I can't believe my eyes, you've up and gone

I get so weary, weary and blue,
When I think about the good times that we two once knew
You, you know the reason why I sit here alone,
I can't believe my eyes, you've up and gone.

Once I have you here beside me,
When I had you here beside me I had your love to guide me,
And nothing, no nothing, no nothing, you don't know but from now on.

Lord I get so weary, lonely and blue
When I think about the good times, baby, we once knew.
You, you know the reason why I sit here alone,
I can't believe my yes, you've up and gone

All right babe…

Once I had you here beside me,
When I had you here beside me,
I had your love to guide me and nothing, no nothing, no nothing could go wrong, yeah

Lord I get so weary, lonely and blue
I keep on remembering little things, baby, that we used to do.
You know the reason you were my lonely one,
I can't believe my eyes, you've up and gone.

I can't believe what I'm seeing babe,
Everything in between me and you
You walked out of my door,
Bye bye baby…

Lyrics
There's one thing I've got to say
There's got to be some changes made
No more black or white
No more left or right
I'm gonna change the world, baby
I'm gonna change the world, yeah!
I'll switch the wrong to right (her on to right ?)
You can bet your life, baby, bet your life

Hold you far (cool your fire ?) and listen mister
Don't cause no trouble for my brother and sister
Why don't you look me in the face
Either that or leave my place
I'm gonna change the world, baby
I'm gonna change the world, waah yeah!
I'll switch the wrong to right (her on to right ?)
You can bet your life, baby, bet your life, my life yeah!

Forget about what your folks told you
Make up your mind just what you wanna do
Just accept people for what they are
Or this old world won't get very far
I'm gonna change the world, baby
I'm gonna change the world, oh yeah!
I'll switch the wrong to right (her on to right ?)
You can bet your life, bet your life

You can bet your life, just bet your life
Well (..?)
There's gotta be some changes made
I'm gonna change this world
I'm gonna change this world, waah yeah

Ah, you can talk about the pit, barbecue
The band was jumpin', the people too
Ah, mess around
They doin' the mess around
They doin' the mess around,
Everybody doin' the mess around
Ah, everybody was juiced, you can, bet your soul
They did the boogie-woogie, with a sturdy roll
They mess around
They doin' the mess around
They doin' the mess around,
Everybody doin' the mess around
Now, ah, when I say stop don't you move a peg
When I say go, just ah, shake your leg
And do the mess around
I declare, do the mess around
Yeah do the mess around,
Everybody's doin' the mess around
Now let me have it there boy

(Piano Solo)

Now you got it boy

(Sax Solo)

(Yeah, ah, mess around, go on mess around)
(Mess around, boy)
Now this band's goin' to play from, 9 to 1
Everybody here's gonna have some fun
Doin' the mess around
Ah, doin' the mess around
They doin' the mess around,
Everybody doin' the mess around
Now you see that girl, with that, diamond ring
She knows how to, shake that thing
Mess around
I declare, she can mess around
Ah, mess around,
Everybody do the mess around

Who is my friend, when all friends are gone
I'm talkin' 'bout you, I do mean you
Who is my friend, when all friends are gone
I'm talkin' 'bout you, I do mean you
Who is my friend, when all friends are gone
You always defend me, if I'm right or wrong
I'm talkin' 'bout you, I do mean you
Talkin' 'bout you

Knows how to love me, in my way
I'm talkin' 'bout you, I do mean you
Knows how to love me, in my way
I'm talkin' 'bout you
Knows how to love me, in my way
Who's always there, every night and day
I'm talkin' 'bout you, I do mean you
Talkin' 'bout you

Who is the sugar in my tea
I'm talkin' 'bout you, I do mean you
Who is the sugar in my tea
I'm talkin' 'bout you, I do mean you
Who is the sugar in my tea
When I'm in trouble, who sees by me
I'm talkin' 'bout you, I do mean you
Talkin' 'bout you

Knows how to love me, in my way
I'm talkin' 'bout you, I do mean you
Knows how to love me, in my way
I'm talkin' 'bout you
Knows how to love me, in my way
Always there, every night and day
I'm talkin' 'bout you, I do mean you
Talkin' 'bout you, I do mean you

Talkin' 'bout you, I'm talkin' 'bout you
Talkin' 'bout you, I'm talkin' 'bout you

Lyrics
I've been traveling over mountains
Even through the valleys, too
I've been traveling night and day
I've been running all the way
Baby, trying to get to you.

Ever since I read your letter
Where you said you loved me true
I've been traveling night and day
I've been running all the way
baby, trying to get to you

When I read your loving letter
Then my heart began to sing
There were many miles between us,
But they didn't mean a thing.

I just had to reach you, baby,
In spite of all that I've been through.
I kept traveling night and day,
I kept running all the way,
Baby, trying to get to you.

Well if I had to do it over
That's exactly what I'd do,
I would travel night and day,
And I'd still run all the way,
Baby, trying to get to you.

Well, there's nothing that could hold me
Or that could keep me away from you
When your loving letter told me
That you really loved me true

Lord above me knows I love you
It was He who brought me through,
When my way was dark as night,
He would shine His brightest light,
When I was trying to get to you.
