Manfred Mann South African keyboard player and songwriter Manfred Mann founded his eponymous British beat, rhythm and blues and pop band in the 1960s. They later evolved into 1970s groups Manfred Mann Chapter Three and Manfred Mann's Earth Band. Gigging constantly throughout late 1962 and early 1963, the band soon attracted attention for their distinctive sound propelled by Mann's keyboards, Jones' soulful vocals and the group's overdubbed instrumental soloing. The band was incredibly successful scoring a third No. 1 in 1968 with yet another Dylan song, "Mighty Quinn".

Lyrics
There she was just a-walkin' down the street, singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do"
Snappin' her fingers and shufflin' her feet, singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do"
She looked good (looked good), she looked fine (looked fine)
She looked good, she looked fine and I nearly lost my mind

Before I knew it she was walkin' next to me, singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do"
Holdin' my hand just as natural as can be, singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do"
We walked on (walked on) to my door (my door)
We walked on to my door, then we kissed a little more

Whoa-oh, I knew we was falling in love
Yes I did, and so I told her all the things I'd been dreamin' of

Now we're together nearly every single day, singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do"
A-we're so happy and that's how we're gonna stay, singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do"
Well I'm hers (I'm hers), she's mine (she's mine)
I'm hers, she's mine, wedding bells are gonna chime

Whoa-oh, I knew we was falling in love
Yes I did, and so I told her all the things I'd been dreamin' of

Now we're together nearly every single day, singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do"
A-we're so happy and that's how we're gonna stay, singin' "Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do"
Well I'm hers (I'm hers), she's mine (she's mine)
I'm hers, she's mine, wedding bells are gonna chime

Whoa-oh-oh-oh, oh yeah
Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do, we'll sing it
Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do, oh yeah, oh, oh yeah
Do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do

Lyrics
You give your hand to me and then you say hello
And I can hardly speak my heart is beating so
And anyone could tell, you think you know me well
But you don't know me

No you don't know the one, who dreams of you at night
And longs to kiss your lips, and longs to hold you tight
To you I'm just a friend, that's all I've ever been
No you don't know me

For I never knew the art of making love
Though my heart ached with the love for you
Afraid and shy I let my chance go by
The chance you might have loved me too

You gave your hand to me, and then you say goodbye
I watch you walk away, beside a lucky guy
To never never know the one who loves you so
No you don't know me

You gave your hand to me, and then you say goodbye
I watch you walk away, beside a lucky guy
To never never know the one who loves you so
No you don't know me

Lyrics
Baby, it's been hard for me since you've been gone
But you left me with the strength to carry on
Though it hurts so much, I've accepted the fact we're through
'Cause the greatest gift in life I got from you

CHORUS:
Baby, baby, you gave me somebody to love
You gave me somebody to love
Wo wo, oh oh oh, oh oh oh, oh oh oh

Memories of nights when we stayed out till dawn
& every time we kissed, a brand new world was born
Baby, it's all right; go & do what you gotta do
'Cause the greatest gift in life I got from you

(chorus)

(instrumental)
Oh darlin', it's all right; go on, do what you gotta do
'Cause the greatest gift in life I got from you

(chorus)

(repeat title & fade)
